This was in my first week of driving. I was still unfamiliar with all of the nuances of the driver app. Towards the end of my 1st Friday night and I get my 1st drunks. Taking them home they insist they need to stop for Whatburger. This itself was an adventure. I had no clue yet how to update destinations in the app, so I just followed “directions” from one of the intoxicated passengers. Surprisingly little issue getting food with minimal detour. After continuing on this is where the fun starts. The passengers in the back have windows down and one of them decides he needs to do what drunks do, which is hurl. Except he didn’t tell me. He simply decided opening the door was best option. At the time I was on a highway doing around 60 MPH. As my door open alarm goes off on the dash he begins to lean out to do his thing… while not wearing a seat belt. I somehow managed to grab his shirt, go from 60 to 20 in about 3 seconds and not drive off the road at the same time, while also making it to the nearest exit. His passed out friend next to him never even woke up.
Lesson to all new drivers: drunks do stupid stuff so be prepared.
